TREASURES INCLUDES A HANDS-ON STUDY OF THE FIFTY STATES AND CAPITALS, THE PREAMBLE, THE THIRTEEN ORIGINAL COLONIES, THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION, ALL 43 PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES, EASTERN AND WESTERN HEMISPHERE FACTS, THE SOLAR SYSTEM, AND THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. DURING CLASS, EACH CHILD IS PROVIDED WITH AN ASSORTMENT OF MANIPULATIVES, SUCH AS SILLY PUTTY, CARS, TRUCKS, AIRPLANES, ANIMALS, AND COLORED CHIPS. THESE MANIPULATIVES ARE USED DURING THE CLASS ACTIVITIES TO TEACH THE CONCEPTS. EACH CHILD MAY

ALSO COMPLETE HANDOUTS WHICH REINFORCE THE CONCEPTS. CHILDREN WHO COMPLETE THE HANDOUTS AND PREPARE A PROJECT WILL RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION ALONG WITH A BEAUTIFUL TROPHY DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL. THESE PROJECTS WILL BE ENTERED FOR DISPLAY ALONG WITH OTHER TREASURES’ PARTICIPANTS.

Critterology
"Critterology" Information

Ages/Grades:
7-12/2nd-6th grades (all class members must be able to read and write)
Meeting Site: Creative Learning Connection (Madison)
Meeting Dates: All Days listed are Tuesdays

Sessions:
1 September 8, 15, 22, & 29
2 November 3, 10, 17, & December 1
3 January 12, 19, 26, & February 2
4 February 16, 23, March 2, 9
5 March 23, 30, & April 6, 13

Each Session will concentrate on a different topic area.

Times: 11:45AM until 12:30PM

Description of Class:
A fun, brief study of different animals or groups of animals. Meetings will include specimen study/examinations, games, worksheets, and discussion
s concerning the animal or group of animals of the day.

Costs:
$20 per session (Payable @ first class)
$90 for all 5 sessions

*No refunds but students will be given all handouts and worksheets if requested in advance of the next meeting.

Homeschooling grandfather (6 years); taught 8th grade Science 1 year(Decatur Heritage Christian Academy); retired Instructor @ Calhoun Community
College in Health & PE(25 years); BS, MA, EDS from U.A.B. with a teaching minor in Biology.

The SAT Test is optional, however, 11th Grade Homeschoolers are required to pass either the SAT or the ACT in order to graduate.

Each family should contact Bob Jones University
FEBRUARY 2 – FEBRUARY 6, 2009
to place an order for each child
for the
Stanford Achievement Test


Each parent/guardian will order tests for their own child and/or children.

Submit a copy of your 2008-2009 Registration Form to
Bob Jones University
prior to the date of the S.A.T. Test
to verify that your child and/or children
are currently enrolled in a local, North Alabama Homeschool Covering.

The child’s age and grade level will determine which SAT test each child receives.

The cost of each test packet is $40.00, not including tax
and shipping, and is payable to BJU.

This price includes all the test materials and computer scoring services.

Test results will be returned via U. S. Mail to each parent 8-weeks after the test has been completed.
