I have certainly enjoyed sharing TREASURES with all the children this year, and I am looking forward to collecting all of their handouts and observing the work of each child. Each child has certainly blessed my life as I have presented Treasures each month. I would like to say a special thank you to all the mothers who have allowed your child and/or children to participate. During the month of March, we will learn more about all 43 United States Presidents, from George Washington through George W. Bush.

We studied the 50 United States and their capitals using silly putty, cars, trucks, and airplanes.We studied the 50 United States and their capitals using silly putty, cars, trucks, and airplanes.We studied the Western Hemisphere and its countries using silly putty, cars, trucks, and airplanes.We studied the early American Colonists and the Thirteen Original Colonies using livestock.We studied the Eastern Hemisphere and its countries using silly putty, cars, trucks, and airplanes.We studied the basic geography facts of our world and listened to a special presentation of Bosnia & Afghanistan.We studied all of the 43 United States Presidents. Participation Each child enters a project and receives a trophy and >a certificate of participation.



Below are suggestions for the projects or design your own.

(1) A child’s drawing of the seven continents and four oceans along with one fact about each continent and ocean.
(2) A child’s drawing of the Thirteen Original Colonies and one fact about each colony.
(3) A child’s drawing of the United States of America and one fact about each state.
(4) A Lincoln log cabin like the log cabins of the early American pioneers.
(5) A child’s drawing of The Western or the Eastern Hemisphere.
(6) A project which includes all 43 Presidents of the United States of America.




MARCH 2007: ALGEBRA II CLASS CONCEPTS



During the month of February 2007, we will continue with our study of Finding the Midpoint of a Line, Finding the Equation of a Line, Functions, Properties of Ratios and Proportions, Systems of equations—Graphic Solution, Systems of Literal Equations, Powers, Binomial Theorems, Finding the Square Root Of a Polynomial, and Finding Roots by Factoring. Our study will also include Graphs Showing Direct Variation, Graphs Showing Inverse Variation, and Variation and Dependence As Applied To Plane And Solid Geometry.

MARCH 2007: GEOMETRY CLASS CONCEPTS


During the month of March 2007, we will continue our detailed study of Evaluating Central and Inscribed Angles In a Circle, Angles Formed by Chords, Secants and Tangents, Explaining Inscribed and Circumscribed Polygons, Reviewing Constructions, Bisecting Arcs In a Circle, Determining a Simple Locus, Fundamental Loci Theorems, Determining Intersecting Loci, along with a study of Proportions, Proportional Lines, and Similar Polygons.

ACT PREPARATION CLASS


There will be a total of ten classes held every Monday between 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. beginning February 5, 2007 until April 9, 2007.

Attendance will be recorded, however, students may arrive and leave at any time.

HOMEWORK:
There will be no homework assigned in this class.

During the month of February, we will learn some basic geographical facts about each of the continents and their location. We will complete our study of the Presidents of the United States of America. The handouts for this month will include President John F. Kennedy, President Lyndon B. Johnson, President Richard M. Nixon, President Gerald R. Ford, President Jimmy Carter, President Ronald Reagan, President George Bush, President William Jefferson Clinton, and finally, President George W. Bush. Spelling and Math Fun Facts will also be incorporated during the class activities.

Also during the month of February, my husband, Mr. George Cagle, will be giving a special presentation about the countries of Bosnia and Afghanistan. He lived in these countries recently, experiencing their customs and cultures, while serving in the United States Army Reserves. He will display his collection of coins, clothing, maps, and many other interesting items from these countries during his presentation.
